The National Prosecuting Authority is set to forward extradition documents for British honeymoon murder suspect Shrien Dewani to the Department of Justice this week.
This was confirmed by NPA spokesman Tlali Tlali who said they would need to ensure that the documents satisfies the EU requirements for extradition before being submitted to the director-general of the department. The process would then involve an extradition enquiry during which the court in the country the suspect is held in would decide if he had committed :”an extraditable offence”.
The suspect Dewani in this case, would then be allowed an opportunity to challenge the evidence before the court. Shrien Dewani is out on 250,000 pounds bail after handing himself over to police in Bristol last week. His wife Anni Dewani was found dead in the back of a rented VW Sharan the couple had hired to tour around Cape Town.

The couple had been hijacked the previous night, though evidence has since emerged suggesting the hijacking could have been staged to facilitate her murder.
