COMMENT from Annis Facebook:
Max Clifford is well known in the UK for representing the rich and famous celebrities in the media, usually when they are in some problem like caught cheating on their spouse or accused of child kidnap (eg Robert Murat). Clifford is known to have good contacts within the sleazy tabloid press industry and can call on favours to plant distraction stories, prevent stories being published or to have the right "gloss" put on a story. He is known to charge £10-20,000 per month for his services as well as earning significant commission by arranging exclusives.
When Anni's murder was first reported, Dewani gave a direct interview to The Sun newspaper. But since he has become named a suspect, hiring Clifford was one of the first things he or his family did.
Clifford has been drip feeding denials to the press daily for the last few days. But he is yet to provide his clients answers to the specific questions that Anni's family are waiting to hear.
Is Shrien Dewani helped by hiring this man? Or would he better served by speaking to the public, and most importantantly, Anni's family, through a direct news interview?
